I have been flying in Alaska for the past several summers, working for a company that has several contracts with the Bureau of Land Management/Alaska Fire Service. The state of Alaska is broken into 14 different land management zones (see map at link below) in which the Alaska Fire Service is responsible for wildland fire suppression services. The airplane I fly is based in Fairbanks, and the zone in which I am assigned is the northeast corner of the state, an area that is bounded on the south by a roughly straight line from Fairbanks to Eagle, and on the west by a line that roughly follows the Alaska Pipeline. The zone has several villages, the largest of which is Fort Yukon.
My job is to fly zone personnel for fire spotting and mapping, to assist in crew and equipment movement in support of fire operations, and to fly any other missions assigned to the airplane, such as medivac of fire fighters with non-life threatening injuries.
Because of the large number of pictures to display, I've broken the pages down by the year that they were taken.
